The Coach House

Bryngwyn

Mature trees and shrubs enhanced by spring bulbs, mixed borders, hedges and a rose garden combine with parkland and a 10 acre lake to make this one of the most attractive and peaceful estates in the Welsh Marches.

It is the family home of Auriol, Marchioness of Linlithgow, who started the comprehensive restoration of the main house, estate cottages, parkland and garden in 1989. The house had been shut up since 1928. In 2005 Bryngwyn was featured on BBC2 in ‘The Curious House Guest’ with Jeremy Musson.

The Coach House

The Coach House

The Coach House, built in 1813 a little way from the main house, originally comprised the laundry, the apple room and the coachman’s room. Lady Linlithgow transformed the building into very comfortable accommodation during the 1990’s and has now enhanced it even further to provide a spacious, elegant and welcoming cottage – a perfect spot from which to explore and enjoy this beautiful part of Wales and all its treasures. It is close to several National Trust and other historic properties, including Powis and Chirk Castles, both of which are ‘musts’ for history lovers.

Llanfyllin, just over two miles away, is a charming rural small town with an excellent range of shops and facilities including a newsagent, hairdresser, hardware shop, pharmacy, bakery, two butchers, a Spar shop and a very good health food/organic produce shop as well as several pubs and a fish and chip shop.
