Sitting Room |
Stone Lodge, a charming Grade II listed lodge house, was built around 1840 by Lord Combermere at the entrance to his new driveway on the perimeter of the Combermere Estate, off the road between Nantwich and Whitchurch.
Sitting in its own garden the Lodge has a spacious south-facing terrace at the rear. Gothic features and an unusual stone porch combine to make this a unique cottage, offering total privacy and views across the estate and fields. Although the cottage sleeps four people comfortably, it is also an ideal retreat for two.
There is private parking space behind the cottage, the path from which has a railing on one side. Whilst the age and nature of the Lodge prevents the provision of full facilities for the disabled, the recent (2004/5) renovation of the building has included many touches to take into account the restrictions that come with impaired mobility.
Ground floor: the original front entrance with oak door leads into a welcoming hall/dining room off which is a cosy sitting room with wood burning stove and original panelling. TV/Video/DVD and music system.

Combermere Abbey - Patio View |
Due to the proximity of the road (some 50 ft.) and sheep in the surrounding fields, dogs are not permitted in Stone Lodge. Also, the layout of the cottage does not lend itself to small, active children so is to be made available only for adult occupation. Guests in Stone Lodge may take full advantage of the Combermere facilities at the Stables cottages, e.g. tennis court, gardens, walks, frozen meals, video library etc. Stone Lodge has its own barbecue area and wood store.
