"This is a beautiful house in a stunning location, perfect for a winter retreat."

"We enjoyed a beautiful meal at the nearby 'Fox and Hounds' pub (great menu and friendly service). Ideal place for a family get together or murder mystery night / special party."

"If you plan a visit to Whitby and, in particular, the Magpie restaurant to sample their most scrumptious fish and chips, BE WARNED!! You should get there early to avoid having to queue. We arrived and just gone 12pm on a Monday in May - no public or school holiday - and got in. " minutes later we looked out and there was a sizable queue waiting for free tables. The restaurant is over 2 floors and every table was full. The staff at the Magpie were simply perfect."

"Good places to eat include: Downe Arms at Castleton, Fox & Hounds at Ainthorpe and the Arncliff Arms at Glaisdale."

"The house was lovely and the setting was absolutely spectacular – everything we had hoped for, and more. We had a small adventure while we were there. A torrential rainstorm completely washed out the road leading down to the house. No worries, though – arrangements were made right away to take care of the problem, and the neighbouring farmer and his wife couldn’t have been nicer about making sure we had everything we needed. And besides, we were very content to read by the fire or walk the surrounding hills."
Mrs S, USA
"Whitby is worth a visit (but not on a public holiday or weekend!). Trenchers Restaurant for fish is a must. Runswick Bay is a delight for a family day by the seaside. York was also surprisingly easy coupled with the 'Park & Ride'."
Mr & Mrs W
"Many good walks in the area. The rail trail – catching the steam train back – Grosmount to Goathland. Lunch at Beck Hole – very unusual pub. Walk around Fryupdale – morning coffee at Danby Moors centre."
Mrs L S
"The enormous decorated Christmas tree was most welcoming. The property was most suitable for family with oldies, middles and young children. We will return."
