"The area is quiet, scenic and with countless interesting sites to visit, also plenty of walking available. The crofts are ideally located for the Roman Wall sites. Corbridge and Vindolanda both excellent sites located south of ‘Wall’. CLoseby are Wallington (NT) Belsay (EH) Cragside (NT) at Rothbury. Further afield – Alnwick (HHA), castle and gardens are spectacular. Coastline – Alnmouth, Dunstahburgh Castle (NT), Bamburgh (HHA) and Holy Island. Newcastle is worth a visit. Wonderful peaceful area to visit!"

"Wallington House, National Trust - lovely house, great walks. Dogs on lead in grounds. Kielder Water - take the boat around the lake (it calls itself a ferry so some people avoid it!) Good value, interesting and lovely views."
