The Old Rectory |
Surrounded by seven acres of landscaped and wooded garden it has an interesting variety of mature trees with ponds and water garden and wild flower areas. It is a garden for all seasons, (with the cottage garden providing something in flower all the year round), spring bulbs, bluebells, primroses and orchids, azaleas and rhododendrons, magnolias, irises, primulas and water lilies.
The gardens are particularly colourful in April and May. In the winter the garden is attractive with specimen conifers. A feature, early in the year, is the many varieties of mature camellias.

The Cottage, built in 1892 is adjacent to the main house. Originally the stables and coach house of the Rectory, it was converted into very comfortable accommodation in the 1970’s. It now provides an elegant, stylishly furnished and spacious, single storey cottage after substantial renovations by the owners. It has oil fired central heating throughout, with solar panel assistance.
There is a large well equipped and modern kitchen, including, 4 hob electric cooker, microwave, dishwasher and larder fridge, with breakfast bar as well as separate dining area. The main bedroom has a king sized double bed and en suite shower room, and the other has a single bed and bathroom adjoining.

The Cottage, available for both short stays and one week holidays, would suit two or three people, particularly those who are interested in gardens, or who merely wish to step back and enjoy the contrast from the world outside. There is a 20% supplement for a 3rd person or for the use of the single bedroom.
One well behaved dog is welcome, but please note that there is no fencing to the Cottage, plenty of wild life about and that the owners have their own free-ranging dog and poultry.
The Cottage is not suitable for children under the age of 15 years as there are various unfenced ponds and water gardens, and some precipitous ravines.
